ok guys and girls, this should be a nice simple one for you! with my starting problems, (i think we all know about now!) im thinking of replacing the fuel heater and checking/replacing the rubber hoses and ensuring the metal pipes are properly clear etc. this should cover pretty much everything in the system! my questions are:

1. if it needs jump started (and it will!)am i best off AVOIDING using a w203 to jump start it? (dont want any fried sams on my conscience!) i can use a diesel ford galaxy instead! and my big one is:

2. should my car jump start like any other car? ie connect jump leads, turn key and it takes power via leads to start? it seems to just let the donor car charge my battery then flatten my battery when i try to start it! its not dead flat, just too low to turn it over fast enough. i dont know why but it never jumps "normally" like every other car ive jump started. is it normal? any thoughts?

i think im gonna use the galaxy! (i did ask if i was best to AVOID the 203!) i thought it was a dodgy situation with the 203! so, the main question is, should it just be a case of connecting the leads and away we go? same as, say, an escort? because its not! any help gratefully recieved!

battery is fine as far as im aware. im back on the one that the car came with. i have 2 other batteries from my 202's but they are a good few years old now and all 3 have been the same. go down quite quickly and the car doesnt "jump start" in the usual sense of the term. its more a case of needing to be charged, then the car always tries to start on its own battery instead of the booster/donor battery!

The size of the jump leads plays a big part here, the skinny thin ones are useless

theyre not the thickest but theyre thicker than a lot! ive used them to jump start w202's transit vans, allsorts with no problems at all! just seems to be my 210 that wont hab=ve it! ive used it and the same leads tojump other things like transits etc, and had no probs, so why not the other way? even had the RAC out to it once when id no one available to jump start it when i first started trying to sort the air in fuel problem, and it was just the same for them!

Diesels take more current than the petrols, bigger starter as well

true. everything ive started, more or less, has been diesel though. unless its just the sheer size of mine! the leasd manage a diesel transit no probs!

and yes they make great heaters. ive only ever got them hot once though!

when RAC tried, they even ended up with the main booster in the van connectd to the "jump points" under the bonnet and left their hand held booster pack on the battery as well! why does my car have to be so bl@@dy awkward?!:lol::rolleyes::rolleyes:
