Coming back from the Wirral this afternoon I was in the outside lane of the M6 on a part that was 50 limited.A guy in an Audi overtook me then pulled in front of me & slowed sharply.I think he was trying to make a turnoff. So I pulled out to overtake & as I was passing him he decided to pull out & hit me.Luckily nobody was hurt & both cars were driveable. Also a woman following stopped so I got a witness.I've since had a text from his insurance company & he's admitted liability. When I got out of the car I was raging & was about to give him a broadside but he was so apologetic he calmed me down. Fortunately my next door neighbour runs a car body shop which specialises in no fault claims so I'm just going to leave it all to him. Next time it's the train!
Good god- sorry to hear this, good no-one was hurt of course and that the liability has been established/admitted at least... If i’d Known you were visiting the peninsula id have bought you a coffee !
The town butcher & his wife in Heswall are good friends of ours so we've been regular visitors for over 20 years. Unfortunately this visit was for a funeral but it was a very liquid funeral....
Liverpool is a great place to visit, I spent 3 months working right by Albert Dock a couple of years ago and really enjoyed the city. Some good museums and the Terracotta Army were there earlier this year.
Went to a Sunday cars and coffee event in Liverpool earlier in the year and then walked round the centre, having not visited for a few years. Jammed pack solid with people - just shows how popular it is. Incredible buildings and a fascinating history- the renovated dock area well worth a visit on its own. Incredibly cheap petrol too! Recommended. Coxyhog - sorry about your accident. The M6 in the North west is becoming a total nightmare and seems to get worse daily.
We stumbled across the Bombed out Church recently ..... never heard of it till then. Quite interesting history. https://www.bombedoutchurch.com/
Sounds like a plan Steve. Parking decent amounts of vehicles in Liverpool can be difficult but there’s lots of places on the outskirts , particularly on my side of the water. Port Sunlight village is well worth a visit, there is a fascinating history , loads of parking near the Lady Lever Art gallery......
Agree 100% with that from Manchester to Birmingham is an absolute nightmare these days. If I'm heading north to Liverpool I've cut across into Mid-Wales on more than one occasion to avoid the M6. Thankfully I generally join and leave the M6 at Preston so don't get the joys south of the Thelwall fire duck that often.
We drove up on Sunday morning, the M6 from Stoke up to the M56 turn off was all "Upgrading to intelligent motorway" and 50mph limited. We came back down the A51 via Nantwich & joined the M6 at Stoke.
I came back that way Sunday, much nicer drive and my preferred route. I went down Saturday M53-M56-M6 but that was just because I had to meet up at Keele. M6 is a nightmare, it’s all being upgraded to ‘smart’ motorway (or money earner as I like to call it!)
My mum is a scouser. She moved away in 1956 when she married dad. However, when she meets another scouser anywhere she puts on the accent!! In the late 60's my brother and I lived with our Nan in Aigburth whilst mum and dad waited to get their house in Stamford back as a RAF hiring. We had returned from Singapore where we had been shoeless for years and learned to swim like fish. We had to go to St Michaels, a nun run school with a swimming pool in the basement. The nuns went mental when we'd turn up barefoot and go swimming unsupervised at lunchtime Many happy memories of Liverpool. Cast iron shore, boating lake in Sefton Park, footy matches at both Anfield & Goodison Park, the copydex factory where the fallers at the Grand National were ground up and on the shelves in stationers by Monday, Ford at Halewood where I got my first new car from a rellie who worked there, the 2 cathedrals, riots in Toxteth, chinese chippy with proper curry sauce, the posh chinese restaurant in Duke St in town, ferry to Birkenhead, tunnel, New Brighton beach and fun fair. Happy times. Haven't been to Liverpool for many years since Nan passed. Was in Higher Bebbington for a funeral last year. Went M40/M6/M54/A41 to avoid the M6 carnage.
A neighbour comes originally from Fazakerley. She'd like to think she's lost her accent but her kids just laugh & ask her where she's from. Impossible to say Fazakerley without a Scouse accent.
I noticed a couple of signs on the M6 stating "Delays until Spring 2022". It felt like 2022 by the time we got home...
