My dealer was supposed to issue me with a Signature used car warranty, and after about 4 months I thought I was covered, but not so..somewhere down the line the warranty for my car didn't go through the motions and is not recorded in the database. Grrrrrrr

The dealer is now getting me a Mercedes Approved cars warranty as the Signature warranty (RAC operated) has now been phased out.

What's the difference in cover now?

well I found out now... (sort of, by comparing the small print)

Previous Signature Warranty cars warranty covers
"ALL factory fitted mechanical and electrical components including catalytic convertors, MB alarm systems, MB air con systems, MB audio equipment"
More comprehensive cover with no itemised list.

New 'Mercedes-Benz Warranty" seems to be a restricted list of 'major' mechanical items upto 100,000 miles, but includes wear and tear and tyre cover.

Engine
Gearbox
CVT CTX
Diff
Clutch
Front wheel drive
Wheel Bearings
Prop shaft
Rear wheel drive
4 wheel drive
Fuel system
Fuel injection system
Engine cooling system
Air con
Steering
Turbo/super charger
Front and rear suspension
Brakes
ABS
Electrical system
Wheel Bearings
Propshaft
Exhaust system

So warranties on used MB cars now seem less comprehensive. :(

And what about the cost if you buy one for your 3 year old C

Hi, The new warranty is by a company called "warranty holdings ltd". The worst bit of all is the cost.

To start with you have to have a 2.5 hour safety check at £85 per hour (£212)

And then the warranty itself costs:

1 year £540
2 years £800
3 years £1006

Wow!!! You can buy a half decent second hand car for that. Does anyone know what the warranty from "Warranty Holdings" is like? How does it compare to a warranty from the AA or "Warranty works" or "Warranty Direct"?

My C240 is coming to its 3 year anniverssary and I need to decide what to do fairly soon.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Signature Warranties.

Hi - just though I'd add a few points.
I have an S500, with an airmatic problem.
MB Oxford have diagnosed the problem as a compressor has seized up, and some wiring and a fuse box have melted. The latter problems of items melting are due to the compressor seizing up.
Signature AKA RAC Warranties, are happy to replace the compressor, but not the melted bits and bobs. Talking to RAC -s like talking to a brick wall.....HELP!!!!!

Hi,

Unfortunately most of the independant (and many of the dealer) warranties don't seem to cover for "concequential damage" which means if your car is trashed due to a faulty 10p washer then 10p is what you get.

Crazy isn't it.
