Hi,

I have a SLK and the roof seems to be squeaking when up and locked in position. I'm guessing that this is because of body movemeent etc, but will silicone gel work to stop the noise from the panels - I've seen it mentioned elsewhere on this forum?

I also have two extremely squeeky front seats - any ideas how I may be able to solve this 'DIY', rather than buying new seats, I think it may be the springs.

Thanks,
Lee

Hi, I would not use Silicone on the rubber seals between the panels. Rubber will tend to absorb the silicone and then expand and deform. Best to use petroleum jelly (vasaline) to stop any rubber squeaking.

Maybe you have rusty springs in the seat bases, which squeak. A very light spray with WD40 may be enough. Otherwise you'll need to take the seats out and have a look and a clean.

Thanks Arnie,
I'll have a go with BJ.
Do you know if there is an easy way to get the seat in/out if I have to go that route?
Thanks
Lee
