I recently fitted Comand but to be honest don't really need the SatNav as I generally know where I'm going.

So, the question is :
Should I keep the disk in the head unit or remove it until required.
I have noticed the head unit getting very warm with the disk in and I am aware that the lasers have the potential to go faulty.

Thanks

It will not make much difference either way, the Comand has a built in fan, and does not shut off till 20 mins after stopping

Only some of the time...

I used it today and it seemed OK. Last week it wouldn't read properly and when I popped the disk out it was very hot.

It will stay hot with or without the disc.

The laser is only being used when asked to do so, so does nothing if not using the navigation
