Hi,

I am wondering whether my car has a single or twin row timing chain. The chain is totally silent, I'm just curious.

Car: W124 230E
Engine number: 102982 22 126710
Delivery date: 26.01.89

Any idea how I can find out without taking the cam cover off?

Peter

Would the chain be visible via the oil filler hole?

Sorry, I realise how dumb my question must sound!

It didn't occur to me that the chain would be visible via the oil filler.

Some say the chain went Duplex from '88 whilst others reckon the Simplex was used until '90.

One way to find out!

Thanks Mr Roadhog.
