Helo everyone - this is my first time on the forum so please excuse any gaffes!

I got my first MB 2 days ago - an 04 plate E 320 CDI Estate Avantgarde with 21000 on the clock and I'm busily trying to learn all the info. As you will all know, the handbooks are like a small brick.

I'm beginning to sort things out and I'm customising the various Command and other options. I'm also getting used to the amazing power delivery!

One thing I can't do yet is play a single CD in the single slot. The car has the really cool 6 CD multi changer that glides up and out and I can paly CD's in any of the 6 but I can't get it to play one in the single slot!

When I call up the audio screen, I get Radio and CD on the left and Aux on the right. I can get the slot to load a sinlge CD but when I select CD, it plyas one from the autochanger. The handbook seems to show that I should see Radio, CD and CDC on the left and Aux on the right. But CDC never appears!

Anyone know how you play a single CD???

I haven't tried a DVD yet. Could this slot be for DVD's? Or could it be for the Command Sat Nav CD?

Cheers, Russ

PS Can you get the dealer to alter/tune/fiddle with sports suspencion settings?

04 E 320 CDI Avantgarde Estate, sports suspension.

Hi Bowruss,

The slot above the screen should play both CD's and DVD's. Also MP3 files if its configured correctly. The Navigation DVD should be in a separate drive in the boot.

May be you should have a dealer check it out

Regards,

Steve

Thanks Steve. I'll follow it up as you suggest. I'll try a DVD first and see what happens!

Thanks for the advice. I've tried a DVD in the slot and athough it draws it in, it won't play and I assume it isn't being recognised - I've tried it with Command with DVD's screen up. There's obviously power going to the slot but no recognition. As they say - "the lights are on but there's nobody in".

As I read the manual. any CD or DVD should play when it's drawn in.

Looks like a trip to my dealer is looming. Can they hook it up diagnostically and activate my slot?

Anybody had this experience? How was it sorted?

Thanks, Russ.

The dealer has the means to re set all of the soft ware, they also have test and programing CD's. interesting notes on them "do not tell the customer what you have done".

Hi, this is interesting, I have identical symptoms (see post 22-05-2006 06:33)
Its good to know I'm not the only one, I have a late 2003 320cdi which I have had for 2 weeks!
please let me know by email if you find a fix. Sorry I should add that MB have arranged a complete new comand unit for me but I'm almost 100% certain its only software configuration.
thanks
Alan

Thanks for the replies folks. I'll pop round to MB dealer after the hol and see what can be done.

Seems a bit steep to replace the whole unit!
