Hi there. I have a query about some new Alloys I have purchased.

I have a Mercedes CDI 270 - C Class and purchased some standard 16 inch alloy wheels that came from a 2006 Mercedes SLK. The model number of the new alloys is 4010902.

I went to the tyre bay to fit the new alloys but they tell me the bolts for the alloys from my current 16 inch alloy wheels on my CDI 270 - C Class are too long for the new alloys from the SLK so I need to buy some shorter bolts :-(

I would like to confirm

1) What size bolts do I need purchase for these alloys to get them on my CDI 270 - C Class?

2) Where can I buy these bolts? The tyre bays dont sell them and neither do Halfords.. I presume I need to go to Ebay...

Any help would be appreciated.

Chris

the standard short bolt from MB is 28mm when the bolt is pushed through the hole in the wheel,,there should be 12mm sticking out the back

Please note that the bolts are radius and not taper

MB charge £1 each

That 28mm is the length of the shank from the start of the radius

If the threaded part on the old bolts is long enough,,you can cut the end off with a hack saw,,they are as soft as butter

Thanks. So what would be the full spec or part number if I wanted to buy the bolts?

Also I noticed 2 of the 4 alloys have some shiny metal strips inside the alloy wheel (some kind of weighting perhaps). Does this indicate they are the front pair or back pair of alloys?

Thanks in advance

They will be balancing weights,,it does not matter if they go front or back

The standard bolt that attaches the SLK wheels that you have is part No. A0009904807.

I think you'll find that M-B charge nearer £3 than £1 each - (inflation Malcolm?)

If you are in any doubt about the correct size, take one of the wheels to your M-B dealer, poke the bolt though a hole and check the protrusion. As Malcolm says, it should be 12mm.

I only use inflation in the tyres ;)

Ok speaking to Mercedes Parts they tell me

Based on my New Alloy Wheel Part Number B66471335
171-4010902 that the bolts I need are as follows:

Bolt - 21mm Bolts in length required
Part Number - 0009904607

Locking Wheel Nuts Part Number - 66470142

Price in total - Around £110.....

You guys were saying I need 28mm bolts....
Does a 21mm BOLT sound correct to you before I order??

Regards
Chris
