Good day,
I need your advice, I own C220, cdi, 2011 model running on om651 engine. The problem with the car it has sized engine due to failure of oil pump, wat is the best option between rebuild or putting a second hand engine from an accident damaged car? Is rebuilding guaranteed to produce quality results.

The quality of a rebuild depends on the quality care and knowledge of whoever does the rebuild.

Maybe you will get some recommendations for rebuilders near you, you could approach someone like Dronsfields (specialist MB breakers) to ask costs of a secondhand engine.
Check exactly what mileage, what is included, (delivery to garage?) what warranty etc etc.

Buy it with a CREDIT CARD to give you some further protections.

I suspect a rebuild may be beyond economic repair. If it's seized due to lack of oil pressure the crankshaft, camshafts, and pistons will likely all need replacing. The block may well have been damaged if the pistons seized in the bores. In that scenario the block may also be beyond repair. If the camshafts run in the head (as opposed to separate bearings) the head may also need replacing.

a rebuild will never be the same, miss one bit and it will go pear shaped.
Its v labour intense.

Smart + others :)
As above, plus turbo(s). Get a complete s/hand unit. Get reg number of donor car to check mot mileage to see if they are telling you the truth about mileage of engine.

As a matter of interest as my car has this engine, when the oil pump failed did the oil warning light come on?

It’s possible just from the engine number to trace a chassis number and from there a registration number if you are friendly with a mercedes parts department. I used this before to establish that an engine from Dronsfields had actually covered much more mileage than they said it had. In fairness they resolved the problem very quickly, collecting the questionable engine and supplying another that we traced to be of much better provenance. Still, keep your wits about you ;)
