Sl 129 door window motor

Hi,does anyone know how to remove/replace a window motor on a 1997 129 model,drivers side?I took the inside trim off,but no chance.Do you have to remove lower door moulding???Also will a faulty window motor affect my roof?It seems to have stopped working.Thanks Gary

Hi gary,,yes the roof will not work without knowing where the window is, thiough you could put it down manually.

I will find you a work sheet for the motor

Have put window down,window only playing up last few cm,s where it comes into contact with rubber seal,You can hear motor grinding/slipping.Back of roof comes up,but front will not unlock??and roof switch flashes??All help appreciated.

I have sent you the window adjust paper that I had, and more should follow, as before if the roof does not know where the window is the top will not come down

They have been sent to the ones in your signature and that is the same as the one that you have put up

If the windows goes up allright apart from the last few cm's and knocks/slips back then its the window regulator that is worn - missing a tooth or 2 no doubt. The gear on the motor may also be worn.

Cars from mid 96 have the widows that drop ½" when you open the door, this is to avoid damage to the roof seals.

this in not to be confused with any noises or the window not reaching the top. One can always try it with the door open.

The regulator is in the link, and as David say they can loose a tooth

Thanks everyone.Fault was window regulater aswell as motor.Wanted it fixed asap,so had mercedes of bristol sort it.New motor and regulater fitted £480!!!They did say roof problem was seperate issue possibly pump.But as soon as window corrected,roof fine again.Thank god.Was a bit pricey,but the service they gave was excellent.Even had strawberrys with cream watchhing the tennis.They were working on car for 6.5 hrs!!
