:lol:Well another hard day to get it finished-have been out road testing today-100% happy-:lol::lol:

will be booking it in for an MOT asap. Top speed 115mph - 0 to 60 12 seconds-averaged at 70mph-just over 40 to the gallon. Adjusted the kickdown so that when i am going up steep long hills it will change down a bit earlier and so not lose too much speed. Only thing i haven't figured out yet is how to get the rev counter working, but i am running it at the moment with no fly wheel censor as i need to buy one.:lol:
Will have to get in touch with DVLA to let them know engine change.

So you have the only SL in the UK with a diesel engine, congratulations.

I gave you the details for the add on rev counter. It may be possible to wire into the one that you have, other than that you could diesel one into the existing hole, and just change the pointer, I am still working on it.

But what good news

Hi Malcolm
being an ordinary diesel engine it will run ok without fly wheel censor.

I am going to take one off of a breaker and see if this will suit.
Yes the only sk diesel in the UK that we know of-not everyones cup of tea but suits me and the wife, and would be funny if a boy racer tries to nick it!!!!!

Congratulations Brian.

Not sure I would have done the conversion myself, but I applaud your tenacity and engineering skills :)

Hi, what doner engine did you use ? from what model, I assume you used the harness from the diesel , also did you change the ecu, what about fuel tank ?

Looking
Your wife rang me a while ago about the car - if you have a write-up and some photos it would make a good article for the Gazette.

I always fancied a W124 300D coupe, would have to be a turbo though. Maybe one day, it's on the to-do list. :)

You could have a LHD version and move the steering wheel over to the other side, it just needs a pulley on each side with an elastic band to couple it up:D:D

Hat's off to you, it is a major job completed.

I still reckon my LPG conversion is an easier way to get the same fuel cost per mile:)

I would agree.

I spend as much time driving on the 'wrong' side as I do over here so I may just leave the steering wheel where it is. Nice idea though, got any worksheets on how to do the pulley mod? :D

Dont laugh, but there was a firm in the 60's that shipped over USA cars, they used a chain and 2 sprockets, they also moved over the pedals as well, it was easy on those cars as there was so much room under the bonnt
