SL 320 rear window defroster not working

Hi guys,

in my SL320 R129 the rear window defroster isn’t working. What should I check first? Which fuse is responsible for that?

Check the lead is plugged in properly first...

Thank you for the reply. Hmmm, I’m sure it is plugged in and looks correct. I’ll have a look again.

Obvs check the fuse and you could use a power probe to check the element in the glass , also check the rest of the electrical items to make sure its the only thing you have lost , afterall there are lots of things we don't use daily

yes you need continuity obviously through the element.
Also in post 1995 cars the multifunction relay is responsible for the rear screen function

My rear window defrost has never worked since owning. I asked the garage to check it - there was power going up to the point of the connector on the passenger side, but they said without stripping down the hardtop to check the rest of the cable, they wouldn't know if it was working from that point onwards. I have a feeling it might just be the connector at the end of the cable but not sure if this can just be replaced?
