SL 320 Soft Brake Pedal

SL 320/1999/V6
SL320 1999 V6. Am I missing something? My brake pedal has always felt a bit soft, so when changing the pads recently I had a mate come round and we bled the whole system. Still a soft pedal have I missed something obvious.
