Car is not here but i have just had it reported at 4AM this morning that the Alarm is going off about three times overnight and has been doing so for the last three nights. Why i was not told this when we spoke at 6PM well WIMMEN!!! cant live with them cant live without them. The car is sitting in my partners drive about 40 miles away - so assuming its not a night time car thief what are the other options? Does the Alarm monitor the battery voltage for instance? The car is only doing about a three mile drive to her work and back each day at the moment and i am sure it will be lights heater and heated seats and everything else on both ways.

Also if she locks the car with the key not the remote will the alarm still come on?

Next is it true that i should not charge the battery when it is in circuit in the car?

Next IF i remove or disconnect the battery to charge it what 'chaos' will i encounter when i reconnect it?

ALL thoughts suggestions and especially good accurate info welcome.

regards

More Info

The car is 1995 and it has the red and green lights on the doors and by the boot lock NO sensor on the mirror. As far as i know the lights are working fine but will double check tonight.

There is no triggering circuit from a voltage sensor that I know of - just the contact systems for the boot, bonnet, doors etc etc.

The alarm stores the code of the triggering system so you could read this, but as for a short term solution - disconnecting the battery won't hurt.

The alarm isn't activated unless the remote signal is triggered, so the central locking works independently unless you have a specific MBSS alarm.

RE; the question you ask about charging the battery "in situ" I use a Battery Conditioner all the time. It keeps the battery prefect and avoids all the inherent problems e.g. system memory loss ect. The only down side is a good one costs over £50.
