SL 500 Roll Bar SYNC..

Hi Guys,

Having not used my SL 500 over the winter very much I went to put the roof down . The roll bar moved to the up position at the start of the cycle and locked. I could not move it one way or another. Eventually I found my way to this site and followed the advise on the forum . I held the manual roll bar button in the up position for 12 secs and heard it click and reset. the roll bar was then able to go up and down.

However when the roll bar is down whether the roof is open or closed the red warning light on the dash flashes. If I manually raise the roll bar the warning light goes out. The same applies when I use the roof control the cycle finishes with the roll bar in the up position ..if I then manually lower the bar the warning light flashes. It seems to be out of sync.

I took it to a Merc specialist who got his machine out to try and clear warning lights it did not work...

If anyone can advise how to clear the warning lights and sync the roll bar again so the roof opening and closing cycle finishes with the roll bar in the down position I would be ever so grateful.

Thanks in advance

My roll bar never deploys from the lowered position when opening the roof. I have to raise it manually if I want it up. If I try and close the roof with the rollbar up, the rollbar lowers automatically, the roof closes and the rollbar raises again.

What are the lights and warnings you are getting on the dash?

roll bar

Hi Thanks for your reply..

Warning lights:

Roll bar warning light yellow light on dashboard and big red flashing light when starting warning about roll bar if in down position.

The bar automatically goes to the up position and only remains in the down position if I manually lower it.

When in the up position I do not get the red warning light...
