I'm in grave danger of losing my beloved 1981 SL 380 ... you see my wife is expecting twins and she wants me to consider swapping my mercedes for something more suitable (it will be cardigan and slippers next).

Anyway, is there a way of putting two baby seats in the back ... It the standard shelf section rather than the upholstered seat version.

Please help or I may be lost to 'people carrier hell' very soon.

Who is going to adopt him at his age

Could always keep the car and get a runabout for out and about with the new family. Congratulations on the twins by the way:D

Hanz's idea worked for me

We bought a 300TE 7seater as a family hack, so I didn't have to ship the SL out. Our two are only a year apart, so pretty much the same problem as Phil re accommodation. Our SL does have the rear seat option. I'm going to change the belts for 3 or four point ones and the munchkins can go in the back.

Perhaps your best bet is to look for a set of rear seats for the SL. You must get the sculpted seats, not just the upholstered flat benches. Try Mercman and Dronsfields and all the other breakers and e-bay and Mercedes enthusiast.

Unless you have three or four point belts, you can't get a kiddy seat or the kids in the back of the SL anyway, as all the "belt-in" type seats are designed for a 3 point belt, and not a lap-strap. Four point belts are better for bigger toddlers like mine.( nearly three and nearly two) as they are just like the harness in a belt-in kiddy seat.

O Yes U Can

I use a moulded cushion device thats fits over my 6 year old's lap - has all the EU safety numbers etc. It came from a Ford (sorry) mondeo Demo c. 4 years ago that had the raised kiddies seats and somehow the thing never got returned! The two point seat belt fits int a slot in the cushion and keeps kiddies very secure.

Will dig out the brochure that came with it and post details as soon as.

Looking
To be honest I wouldn't even consider trying - you have very little safety equipment in the car as it is - even an R129 would be questionable in my opinion.

Further to my previous post, the seat is made by Britax, it's called the Romer Vario.

Go to this site who are selling at £39.97

http://www.kiddicare.com/invt/bstrbrtxrmerrny

My kids find this type of restraint a lot more "friendly" than the bog standard seats and once you view it you will see why.

Hope this helps.
