Hi, having major issues with SL 350 2004.
Began with the convenience functions unavailable, clock losing time. central locking doesn’t work. Heating/air con no longer working. Petrol cap wouldn’t open or boot lid! Can’t open roof! Now dash has constant red battery warning to visit workshop!
Both batteries have been replaced.
indi has suggested removal and repair of SAM - car will be off road for around a week.
Does this sound correct or something else? Thanks

Check the drains under the front scuttle. They tend to block with accumulated dirt and water finds its way into the front driver and passenger foot wells and ruins the front SAM.

Such a shame the SL model leaks like a sieve in so many places. It really is their achilles heel.

Check the airbox under the bonnet on passenger side doesn't have water pooling in it. Check under the passenger side carpet because if the airbox has leaked it will go into the passenger footwear.
Thankyou, no sign of water tho

What is you battery voltage like? Should be 12.6+ volts for tip top condition.
How old is the battery?

Sounds like water under passenger carpet. There is thick foam underlay which holds the water beautifully. Copper connectors go green and stop connecting.

Very difficult to get under carpets, you need to remove door sill trim and slide your hand in. It will be wet, I suspect.
