Can anyone tell me the best way to waterproof a central locking pump please? I know replacing the roof seals is the cure but cost puts that on the long finger. I have been thinking of plasti dip-has anyone tried this product?

Unfortunately the accredited forum expert on R230 folding roof leaks was banned a couple of weeks ago. Do a search on R230 roof leaks and water proofing the central locking pump there is a lot of info on the forum.

If Malcolm (aka Television) decides to return to the forum you should be able to get detailed instructions from him.

I am interested to know how you intend to plastic dip the pump, personaly i have never used this product but would be interesting to see if it works,i took out my pump for inspection after blowing a fuse,no damp in pump but sponge was wet and water in the boot well caused by blocked drain holes in the top boot seals,as said television was the master of this problem,he helped me whith my problem theres a good discusion on the forum about the psi pump and keeping it dry.

I took out the sodden foam and after completely drying it I wrapped it in cling film. It is only a protective buffer against things above it in the boot. I then thoroughly sprayed pumps, wiring, everything in sight with Holts Ignition sealer spray. This puts a non conductive waterproof plastic seal over everything.
If itbworked on my Mini distributors in the 60s exposed to the blast of the weather at the front of the engine then it should protect PSE pumps and associated wiring and electrics.
Dont forget to check that the bung/ valve in the bottom of the boot is clear

Plaastidip won't do any harm, but won't seal it either. It has a myriad of air lines plus wiring going into it and you couldn't seal around them
