Hi Kids!!!

So! I think I've fallen foul to the dreaded PSE nightmare.

2010 R230 SL 350. Intermittent fault with drivers door lock. On occasion (usually after working correctly a couple of time). On using the key fob to lock all doors and glove boxes on the car, all fine. When opening the car with the key fob. Boot, passenger side door and glove boxes open OK except the drivers door. Same situation with the door lock switches on the dashboard. Both doors lock, but on unlock only the passenger door unlocks. Auto (anti-hijack) locking works fine. The mechanical key unlocks the drivers door and obviously the door release within the car.

So learned ones. I am presuming that it's a single air line from the PSE pump to the lock actuator in the drivers door. Suck to lock and blow to open???? (The Door!! The Door!!!). So my brain tells me if there is a leak in the line then neither function should work and that only the physical key and door release should mechanically operate the door lock, but as mentioned, the door locks on he remote quite happily.

I'm desperately keen to avoid removing the door card if I can help it as part of any fault finding, those things never seem to go back quite they way they came. Is it possible to gain access via the steel end cap that runs down the height of the door at the end????

Any thoughts? Tips or tricks?

My thanks in advance.

Nile

Make sure your "emergency" locks are well lubricated and actually working - on a few R230's part of the mechanism falls off meaning you can't get into the boot even with the metal key...

Thanks Blobcat!

I do try my best to both lubricate and actually use the mechanical locks on a regular basis...... Just in case.

On a lubricating note. Any tips on how to lubricate the power door mirrors on an SL? They sound like a couple of vultures crowing when they move

Silicone spray is my (only ) friend, I apply it liberally in a conservative manner to save my labour…:p
