Does anyone know where the phone module would be located in a 2004 SL350. I didn't opt for a phone prewire but am fitting an aftermarket bluetooth and been informed the car probably has a phone module installed somewhere!

Nope the phone module is under the arm rest rear section, the whole arm rest lid has to come off to get to it, you can undo the 2 screws at the back of the box and lift off the rear section to look at it, but all off to get to the screws

phone module

thanks malcolm,
i just need to access it to disconnect and install new bluetooth system> is the arm rest easy to remove? any directions really helpful, or where the screws are located.
Hopefully in this case I wouldn't need to remove the device>

Remove the two screws in the rear end top of the center box and the rear section will lift off,, you can get to the plugs with just the top off, but you cannot remove it.

Phone module

Thanks Malcolm.
I have removed the centre arm rest (rear section) and cannot see anything resembling a phone module. Picture attached. Don't know if MB moved the location of this as mine is 2004 vehicle with the (then) latest MOST Comand system with boot DVD Nav.

Or if you can tell me what I should be looking for! I can see 2 shielded optic cables but not connected to anything there.

Cheers
Jared

Malcolm,
in the second paperwork in removing the boot trim, there is a refernce to removing the trunk retractable partition which has a seperate annex for vehicles upto 28.2.06, which mine is!

do you have that one? section 3 on the worksheet

Not the easiest job this I am sure merc do this on purpose!

so i just removed the entire boot section only to reveal that there is no phone module present that I can see!
Is it possible that one wasn't installed or should I try looking elsewhere?!

This was an option when new and you may not have one installed, I assumed that you had the phone already in the arm rest, I can check on the cars data card for you

That was my thought as I did not have pre wire when new but in installing this new bluetooth was led to believe there could be a conflict with a telephone module already installed. I never know if MB just chuck these things in and wire them up if needed.
I think I answered my own question here so thanks for the help anyway!

I won't start of the coolant and washer light coming on, the boot vario roof raiser thats stopped working and the flap the pops up when the roof is up having just snapped all the plastic holders and the rattle coming from the rear part of the roof. And I thought a merc was for life...
