Yes. The roll bar must be raised and the switch held in the up mode for 10 secs in key 2.

The windows raised and the switch held the same.

There are many variants over the years, some cars require the foot brake on.

Is the roof working

Has the car had a new soft top fitted.

I have the info on the top front hydraulic and how to fix, I will post back later in the day when I have printed them off

do a full manual reset with ignition on,

you will need to manually fold the roof to achieve this. you have the tool in your toolkit to do this, the instructions should also be in your book

If the windows won't drop the roof will not move. Have you checked the fuses in the boot? I have had a blown fuse stop the windows from operating on mine and then the roof won't work either. The fuses can also corrode and loose contact as a result. The recommendation in the manual is not to move the roof if the temperature is below +10C. Maybe Kent is a lot warmer than Worcestershire but I wouldn't be moving my roof in this weather!

Thanks Richard...ah but you have a sunnier disposition up there !
The windows drop ok with from the window switches and go down with the one touch.I guess i will wait till the spring. I have had dozens of W140s but this is my first SL. I have to say thats its probably the most understated/underated and beautifully engineered car in the world. I love the coupes but this,,,,,.....excuse i have to lie down for a bit.
PS i have no power to the seat switches, intermittent wipe or indicators.
The instrument cluster blinks the lights for a few secs then goes out but the engine runs very well. Maybe spiked the cluster resistor?
I wish i felt more confident to contribute more to this forum but you guys keep a lot of these cars on the road.!

Sorry I can't help any further, that's the limit of my technical expertise with R129 roof mechanisms. It says an awful lot about the original quality of the car that after 5 years and 50,000 miles I have had so little need to learn more about how it all works. The only major expenditure in that time has been a a new ignition switch/steering lock assembly and having the roof recovered by KHM in Germany as the original was looking shabby although still weatherproof..

I have checked the fuses in the boot and the engine bay...is there a fuse within the module?
