Big advantage of a R231 is no rust......
If you're going to do something "daft" like that then put your money where it wont lose...I'll just throw this out there, if you're looking for some V8 soft top fun without the worry of ABC or rust that comes with an R230 then you might want to think outside the MB box? The second one is a bit over budget but gives you an idea of what's out there

Now you're talking, never owned a Porsche, would like to at some point. If you're going to do something "daft" like that then put your money where it wont lose...
As it say's in the owners manual "There's no such thing as an old Porsche - just a new owner"Now you're talking, never owned a Porsche, would like to at some point.
I think 230s are finding the bottom of the curve about now and can't see them getting much cheaper. As it say's in the owners manual "There's no such thing as an old Porsche - just a new owner"
I'd always recommend a 911 over any other Porsche, pick the right one and you won't lose money - R230's and R231's are great cars but they drop like a stone second hand. 911's don't and I don't know why

Impressive list, which was your favourite?I’ve had quite a few “Nose Bags”
XJS Pre HE V12 5.3 x 1
XJS HE V12 5.3 x 1
XJS HE V6 3.6 x 1
XK8 4.0 V8 x 2
Various XJ6’s
An awful XJ40 !!
An old Mark 10 I liked the shape ?
But I’m firmly in the Mercedes camp now .

I would suggest you look at the residuals of the XK/XKR's against the same vintage SL's and I think you'll find they hold hope rather better? If you're going to do something "daft" like that then put your money where it wont lose...
