So how practical would a 300sl or a 420sl be for everyday use, not a pristine example but something in the £8 - 10k mark.
I understand that on the options list when new, a tow bar could be chosen, if so what is the maximum braked trailer weight that a 420 could tow, I know to some this is appalling ( it would only be twice a year for 50 miles) but if it keeps another grand older car being used then it must be good.

fine for everyday use if you only need two people to be in it. you need to find a good one though if using every day. try to stick to post 85 cars if you plan to use everyday as they have many improvements - older ones in good nick should be fine though

yes towbar can be fitted. you'll be very lucky to find one with one already fitted.

its a heavy car so will tow a decent load. what do you plan to tow?

cheers

I have a little boat known as a cornish shrimper, about 19 feet long, the boat weighs 1065kgs and the trailer weighs about 450kgs so we are talking 1500kgs. Currently the S type jag diesel tows it with no problem.
