Hello Ed, I do not think that you do have a fault, the ABS pump and injection pumps do make a lot of noise, you also have the fuel pump running, the heater blower will also come on at the speed that was last used. you can always open the bonnet and listen.ge055447 said:On turning on the ignition, before starting the engine, I hear a highish buzzing noise from inside/nearside of engine bay. Any suggestions of fault. Car still drives fine.Thanks. Ed
ge055447 said:I've eliminated the heater. When I turn on the ignition I hear a couple of clicks and then the buzzing. It's not audible when sitting inside the car. It's definately near side mid engine. In fact the first time I noticed the noise it was preceded by an irregular rattle, like a small stone rolling around inside a plastic bucket, and still is occasionally. Ed
The two pumps, ABS asnd the injection pump are both on the passenger side on the bulkhead, I use a home made stethoscope like a large screwdriver and I place the blade on the offending article and the handle to my ear, this amplifies the sound and a good way to find these strange noises.ge055447 said:Raj,
Thanks but it's a electrical 'buzz' something like a loud hum you'd get from an amplifier...and it's not the sound system!!!
Blob,
Alas no, if it was only that simple.
