Hi
I seem to have a leak from the pipework connecting the autogearbox to the radiator. The solid pipe that connects into the radiator is corroded, it appears to just screw into the rad and onto the adjoining hose. Is it straight forward to change or could there be complications and how do i replace the lost oil? The car is a 1995 SL320.
many thanks

Yes and a common fault, there is a post in the DIY on this, though that is for a 210,, it is the same procedure

oil cooler pipes, gearbox oil

Hi
if i remove the oil cooler pipes at the front of the car will i drain the autobox and torque convertor?
I am wanting to change the gearbox oil and while i am replacing the hoses i might as well do the 2 jobs together. I have read the threads on changing the gearbox oil and wondered if removing the pipes on my car would drain the tc?
My car is a 1995 SL320, 5 speed auto, am i right in thinking 7 litres of the red Dextron 11 fluid wil be required?

Make sure the ATF meets MB spec, use nothing else.

If you were planing to change just the pipes, then you would only lose a small amount of fluid. 1/2 pint, just a splash would be required to top up.

SL320 Oil Cooler pipes

Hi
I have changed two of the front oil cooler pipes, drained the Autobox, replaced the gearbox oil filter, gasket etc, but am a little confused about the dipstick situation - as there was one? From the write ups I expected there to be just a cap on top of the tube near the bulkhead, but there was a proper dipstick marked 30< o'C >80. Should there be a dipstick on a 1995 SL320, 5 Speed auto?
thanks

Yes correct, the dip sticks did not start being omitted until 1998-9
