99% certain this is the PSE pump in the boot

There is a fuse behind the driver's seat in the storage box under the false floor - it's the only 20amp (yellow) - check that first

If it's gone, then a possibility of water ingress in the boot, but best one step at a time to find the cause

re getting in with the key - I've always used the one from the remote itself.

It should turn in either door, so if not, then as the previous post, you need to spend some time with (initially) WD40, wiggling the key about - it will eventually turn. After if does, shoot some silicone lube as WD is not the best to leave on its own.

The boot is more of the same until the key turns. Once it does, you need both hands to get in.

Looking down on the boot lid from above, turn the key in a clockwise direction and hold it there, with the other hand, pull the boot release handle & it should open. You cannot isolate the boot lock - if the PSE is down, it's key every time.

the bootlock only works one way - pretty sure the doors the same.

You have to persevere - it should operate. eventually, but if it's the boot you're trying, the key on its own will not unlock or open the boot - it needs the handle pulled at the same time (turn key & hold, then pull handle) and the key (from memory) doesn't even go 90 degrees max

Did you check the fuse yet? If it's blown, it's not a good sign, but replacing it might get the system working briefly

Better still is to stop the water from getting in if the foam box that the pump sits in as the water can run down the cables, have you opened the drivers door yet and checked the 20 amp fuse that David talked about

If it blows again then the pump has failed, at the very least the pump needs to be removed.

Just undo the the 4 nuts holding down the roof pump and lift to 1 side, then lift the PSE pump in the foam block out and separate the two halves, the pump will unplug and so will the vacuum connectors.

I thought that too - even said so in an earlier reply on this thread - assumed I'd missed one!!

I am sure there are no changes David, if any after 06-06 I forget if there are any spares in that box, or are they all up front

as you will be trying another fuse & it may work for a while, make sure you leave the storage box lid open - it locks as well as the doors etc which means a bit of messing about to get to the fuse if/when it blows and the car is then locked!
