Miles left is meaningless when stuck in stationary traffic: it will be zero if the blockage isn't cleared in time. Switch off, press REST and be glad of having a car with such a function.

Every week, I take my daughter to a piano lesson and sit in the car for half an hour usually watching a DVD. The REST function is great at this time of year: the car doesn't get cold.

Not totally meaningless.....some comfort may or may not be gained.....since having my Alpine and associated ''black box'' fitted my ''range display'' also tells me how much fuel is left in the tank......in gallons to the first decimal point (one tenth).....so 0.1 gallons.....almost one half of one litre......loads of fuel !!!***???

Sorry for the delayed reply - just had new tyres put on the S class. Yes, girlfriend made it to the garage and now I have a full tank of petrol to burn up over the weekend Happy days!

This was dealt with very badly. This correct action in this scenario is as follows. Tell her:

1. Turn off radio.
2. Open glove box.
3. Open facia vents.
4. Press the headlamp wash button and passenger window "up" button together.

This puts the car into Receive Mode. You will then, using your laptop and complicated satellite communications, re-map the vehicle to maximise fuel economy.

5. Log into Waitrose on-line, have a post-it handy.

This will take a lot of time and effort on your part. Which means she will owe you one big time when she gets home. Step 5 is for you to be able to chose exactly what size (1lb or 2lb) type of steak (fillet or T-bone) you'll be having that evening and precisely how you want it cooked.

Is that what the rest buttons for. Does it still do the same thing on my old 202?
