Thanks rexemper. I did have the old 500 centre console out when I replaced over a year ago, but good to have a refresher

What they don't mention is that its easier to manoeuvre the console once you've removed the ashtray insert. You can then also see what its getting stuck on. I couldn't do that first time around as the lid wouldn't go back far enough, but second time round it was a lot easier with the insert removed.
