Cheers guys. Can you tell me what fuse it is and where the fuse box is. Iv heard that I'd I pull it then that resets it for a short while until the garage can fix it properly

It is a yellow fuse 71 4th in from the end, you can see the red/black cable coming out from behind it that goes to the pump.

Nick, have a look at a recent post on the Electrical section "R230 Fuses". David Arnott kindly put up a photo of the fuse box with an arrow to fuse 71.

It should be a 20amp fuse according to the fuse chart which should be in your toolkit, commonly replaced by a 25amp, since it does tend to blow. But if it is this fuse it will affect your central locking as well.....?

found the box, pulled the fuse, put back in and the pump fired up immediately.
the boot works a treat now:) . But for how long?
Is there any particular method of charging the battery? i mainly do short journeys, i have a proper optimiser. I guess i need to do both batteries individually.

What you have to do now is to time the running time of the pump, close the boot, let is pull down and the pump should cut within a second or 2. If it runs on for some time, then the lock is leaking, the CAN will turn off any function if the pump runs for too long, it does this to protect itself.

Charging the rear battery. A good charge and this can be 20 hours on a 6 amp charger every two to four weeks is all that is needed. Ignore the front one.

the boot shuts, the pump fires up, the boot clicks shut (warning light goes out), pump stops. whole process is less than two seconds.
do you think it will last long?

It maybe be good for ever, no way of knowing, it sounds all OK now

You can bring the mains cable (if thin) out from the boot and still close it and lock it. disconnect nothing.

You could fit a charging point.
