Evening all,

My sl500 came with a after market head unit. It looks very similar to the orignal oem unit. But it says Rosie with white letters on the trim.

for some reason the orange light stays on.when car is off,all lights dim down and off.this head unit remains lite up 24/7.

has any one heard of this brand and had same issue?.

thanks

Who knows how it has been wired. Should have permanent switched live.
Does it stop playing music and the like when you turn the ignition off?

If so then it looks like a fault / feature of the unit. Maybe it could have its firmware updated of its a fault. Or perhaps there is a setting that means it stays on.

I'd say that whoever fitted the radio has wired the background illumination to a permanent live instead of to the lighting circuit. I imagine it will be an easy fix as these aftermarket items generally have labels on each wire indicating its function. Or you can just trial and error it. Turquoise is a good guess!!

Then just take the wire from permanent live and splice into the illumination for the cig lighter or similar

Thanks for reply, after a couple min all audio and interior lights in car turn of. Head unit buttons remain illuminated constantly. Unit Wiring has been checked and it’s all fine. I think I may have to get star connected and maybe there’s a full of setting via that.

Star won't show anything as it has no idea what that head unit is.
It's more likely a setting on the head unit, a design feature or bad installation.

I would be inclined to look into the setting within the unit itself under something like illumination. they should not be on. who checked the wiring.

How is that Rosie??

Pull the unit and look on the back for a part number or another company name.

have you tried holding down power button to see if all turns off.
did you ask the previous owners

Spelling mistake
It's a cheap Chinese Rupse unit. (how do you get Rosie? ). Last time I saw these they were about £140. You're likely to spend more than that, tracking a fault. If it was mine I'd junk it and buy a quality unit.

If you are happy with it & its not flattening your battery stick with it, almost certainly a LED bulb drawing next to nothing.
Or if you are practical whip it out find the power feed & move it to a switched source.
