Could someone give me advice on the best brake pads for an 04 SL55 AMG?

Also when I brake from about 30mph down to a crawl there is a slight juddering through the steering wheel. Could this be anything to do with wheel alignment?

I'm not technically minded so answers in words of few syllables please!!

Sound like you front disks have been over heated and warped. run your finger over the shiney surface to the outer edge of the disk and feel for a lip, best thing to do is ring MB and give them the vin or reg number to see how much the parts will cost.

Easy to replace disks and pads. where are you in the UK?

The pads are mega money as there are two sets per side. As are the discs too. I would stick with MB only.

Nothing wrong with EBC pads, they are used all over the world

I would stick with MB as well, I know Malcolm has great success with EBC pads. I however come from a bike background where no aftermarket pad gives the same feel or braking as original.

You make it sound that I am the only user of EBC, they are used all over the world and I have never seen 1 complaint on any of the 5 big MB forums

I had some EBC pads in my 106 GTI. They were great with dust but terrible at doing the actual job of braking.

I changed them for mintex fast road.

But there are 4 types and you do have the choice, with the Red and Green I have never found any difference to the originals, the black ones are too hard for street use.
