SL55 AMG 2004
Hello, I am hoping someone can help. I have recently brought a 2004 SL55 AMG. It had a leak on the power steering and requires a new hose but Mercedes have ceased making parts for my model ! Anybody else experienced this ? I am currently trying to buy a part from abroad but without much luck, can anyone help please ?

Is there a visible pn on the hose you can google.
Is it a hydraulic hose, these can be readiy made up
by hose places.
Have you tried 3rd party places like ECP.
Have you tries a breakers (dronsfields, prestige) or
is the part AMG specific.

You should be able to have a hydrulic pipe made up here. Burley fluid Hydrulics are worth a try.

There's a good chance the SL500 one is the same, there are a few being broken up, maybe your best bet is a used one for the time being.

Unfortunately most breakers won't be bother as a part like a steering pipe can take longer to remove than the £30 they'd only get for it.
Pity its not an EClass pipe your looking fir I have one of those

If it was once made, it can be made again. Hydraulic hose consists of two ends and a hose, do you not have any parts they can copy ? Do you know thread size, depth etc ? They are probably standard sizes. Google specialist hydraulic hose makers.

Yep. I had a hose made up by a local hydraulic guy when no parts supplier had stock. . For a 60 year old American car too. Took the bloke 10 minutes and he wasn't going to charge me anything. Not much these specialists can't sort.

Yes I had the very same issue.

I also took the hose to a shop that specialises in making hydraulic hoses but they couldn't do it.

The reason being is they could make the rubber hose section no problem, but they couldn't match the flare & fitting used at the pump end.
Its not a standard single / double / bubble etc ....
In addition there is rumoured to be a restrictor in this hose, so without I do not know the effects on the steering.

The part number you have quoted A2304666681 is the RHD version - which as you have found is no longer available.

However ...... the LHD version A2304666581 is still available.

The difference looks like an extension piece which the RHD version just bolts onto, so you may find that if you have this original piece that connects onto the steering rack INPUT - then you can order the LHD version. It is unfortunately very pricey at around £250.

Can the SLParts shop be of any assistance?

I think the SL Shop only cater for the early SL's Andy?
