YES, The correct oil is in the car, though I am informed correctly that the alternative diesel version would have been Ok.
Good luck with your Austria trip I trust all goes well

Thanks Once more

I'm using 229.51 (5w30) in the Clk at the moment rather than the 229.5 (5w40) . The car does seem to use more oil on the .51 , I guess because it's thinner . But importantly both oils are acceptable in the cars manual .

I've been using 229.51 in ours for ages (but 5w40 - its available in multiple grades). Been absolutely fine with it and no noticeable difference in consumption.

Hi Wighty,

Just to follow up on another issue regarding the lacquering in of the brake dust on my wheels, I have had this response from Mercedes Benz customer complaints team......
"
"In relation to your alloy wheels Oxford tried to rectify this in June but due to the age of the vehicle the brake dust remaining on the alloys cannot be fully removed. The level found is consistent with an 8 year old car and is expected Unfortunately the reverse of the alloys do take the brunt of the dust and due to the age of the alloys this cannot be improved further. I understand that you dispute this but this is their full and final position on the matter. If you are unhappy with this final decision or feel this matter is unresolved, you can seek advice with a CTSI Certified Alternative Dispute Resolution provider. We are prepared to engage with The Motor Ombudsman to resolve your dispute. Further details can be found at www.themotorombudsman.org, or alternatively their telephone number is 0345 241 3008 selecting option 1.

In regards to my previous offer of a service this is still valid and will be honoured when you have your vehicle serviced next year at an approved Mercedes-Benz retailer. My advice going forward would be to pursue any outstanding matters with The Motor Ombudsman."

Strange that the dealer sprays in the dirt and then claims the mess is due to the age of the car??

Though its fair to say they (ie Merc Customer complaints) have offered me a free service next year. Needless to say I will not be taking the car to North Oxford.

Regards

Tedfred
