Hello all,

I have just bought a 4 year 230 SLK K, lovely car, though Mercedes owe me a manual,

I have noticed that when the engine's running the RECT is to recycle the air, but when the engines off and you push it in (as there is two lights).

The botton light comes on ???

What does this mean ??

Thanks

Brad

Cold air comes through the face vents, I did test this out after the engine had just been turned off, its not a powerfull flow.

Thanks

Bradley,

I was so confused by this post that I just went out to look at our SLK. With the engine running pressing the recycle button brings on a warning light, turning the engine off resets to the off button, so the car always starts in the off position. I cant spot anything happening when the ignition is turned off. Does this help or have I missed something along the way?

Mark.

Mark, thats very kind of you,

It seems that I have two lights on the rect button,

when the engine on the upper light comes on, to recycle the air

But when the engines off if you push the button the bottom light comes on and a light but cool amount off air comes through.

Thanks

Brad

Clearly the two cars are different. Our SLk is a 1997, I think their is a mid series upgrade in 2000. Sounds like you have an improved system, or perhaps they just dont trust us with the posh technology in Manchester!

Sorry I cant help.

Mark.

HI all,
Am I missing something here or is this not the 'residual heater ?' or whatever funky name merc give it ?
All recent mercs have one (I thought), on the re-circulate air button when the engine is off, the bottom light comes on and a small electric pump runs to keep water running through the block and heater matrix, and the fan comes on slow. Uses the residual heat in the block when the engine isn't running. Its supposed to keep things toasty on those long winter evenings when waiting for the wife outside the supermarket.
cheers,
Jules
