Slk 230 Central locking problems.

Hi, Ive got a problem with my 2001 model SLK 230 KOMP, Having locked the car as usual the other day with the remote, after about 2 or 3 minutes the alarm went off, after reapeted attempts the same thing happened. I now notice that the Anti/tow/alarm light in the dash board switch is permiantly on,I called our local MB dealer that advised me to disconnect the battery for a while, That did'nt work so i booked it in. They tell me i need a mercedes battery ( eventhough mine is less than six months old) and a new central locking pump? when the doors and boot are locking as normal with both key fobs.And now looking in the forum seeing other people having horror stories with S&G In Swansea I dont know where to turn to next. This is my first post and would appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Hello and welcome, I do not think that is anything to do with the battery, its a known fact the water gets into the pump,most of us fix them as shown in the thread,if you feel like have a go I can give you more links

the pumps are expensive if purchased from MB have a look on ebay.de and .co.uk there are some pumps for sale for as little as £20 but they maybe as bad as yours.

I think the pumps are made by hella or someone equally as rubbish but to refurbish them is easy asuming your handy with the soldering iron.
