When looking for an SLK320, one owner/potential seller said car is great and mechanically sound only one problem-passenger side window rolls up about a quarter of an inch too high causing door closing problems. I finally found an SLK 320 to buy (2001) at my local MB dealer about 7 months ago. It was Starmarked. I have now discovered that I have a similar problem, passenger window rolls up too far.

Anyone else experiencing this problem and/or know how to solve?

BTW I am new here. Thanks for helping me learn my way around here.

This is an easyish fix if you are patient.

Take the door panel off and you will see two bolts at either end of the door near the top. These bolts are for adjustment of the stoppers that stop the windows going too high.

Loosen the two bolts (one at a time) and make the necessary adjustments front and rear and re-tighten. You may need to do a little trial and error to get it right so dont be in a hurry to put the panel back on 'till your sure you got it spot on but its a relatively easy job.

BTW, do not overtighten these bolts, I think they're made of cheese. A delicate balance is required so that they are sufficiantly tight so as not to move (like yours)but not so tight as to shear. I have sheared them twice now on my W124 CE ... luckily the adjuster itself is only a couple of quid.

Also note that the bottom of the rails holding the glass can also be adjusted allowing you to adjust the lean of the glass for a tight (but not too tight) seal.

clk windows

Hi

the adjustment is easy as previous postsays only on the clk you don't need to take the door pad off, there are grommets in the bottom of the door remove grommets wind window down and adjusters are visible through the hole screw them up to drop the window at the top, just go 1 turn at a time and trail end error is the name of the game.

After the adjustment is correct you will need to normalize the control unit otherwise it will see the new stop posistion as an obstruction and roll back a couple of inches
