SLK gearknob

The gearknob on my SLK200K is badly scuffed etc. It is a lift for reverse type. Can I replace it and how? Any advice welcomed and thanks in anticipation. Great site and very helpful to a "rookey". Cheers.

Just prize up the base, its only a push fit, lift the boot over the knob and turn the collet nut a quarter turn

Thanks for your reply Malcom. It looks the same as in your link, although there are six gears. I have been looking on ebay at numerous replacements, but none are apparently suitable for a "lift" reverse type, any ideas of where to get a suitable one. I notice you answer many of the queries and great to have someone willing to do that. You may have seen my other question on the engine management light permantly on. Any ideas? I would appreciate any help I can get here. Thanks again. Cheers. Owen.

If the knob is leather, you can re colour it, and the same as doing the door handles and center box.

Once again "M" great and thanks. I've had a look at the two sites, the second one appears not to be available, but no problem as the paint idea seems ok. I've seen paint suggested here and I need to do the door handles etc. Thanks again. Owen.
