SLK Ignition switch stick on Starting

2006 SLK. When you start the car the Ignition switch sticks in the starting position and has to be physically turned back. Tried a bit of silicon spray on it.

Sounds like a spring has sprung but usually that results in a new barrel

As JL has stated, a new barrel will be required.

Well I sprayed the ignition switch with silicon spray and a day later all well again. Just sticking.
