SLK interior roof panel removal

I need to remove the plastic ceiling panel from the roof of an SLK (1996-2004) to access a small roof dent about an inch in from the drivers side. There are retaining screws on all sides.

What is the best way of securing the roof in a half open position to remove the panel?

Any precautions I need to be aware of?
