Hoping someone out there will be able to help. I have a 1997 SLK. There has always been a bit of creaking and squeaking (you expect it will a cabrio) but in the last month or so it has developed the loudest most annoying squeak ever. It comes from behind the driver seat somewhere down in the back corner. I think it is two bits of plastic rubbing on each other (sounds like someone is rubbing two balloons behind your head at all times). I have tried to wedge stuff in to stop the plastic trim moving but nothing seems to make any difference. It makes the noise over every single bump in th road.
Merc have offered to look at it for £300 + VAT but cannot guarantee to cure it!
