Hi there,
New recruit here, would like to ask if anybody can recommend someone who specialises in repairing the retractable roof of an SLK.

Mine is temperamental, but trouble is I'm going to incur an excess labour charge for diagnosis if I choose my nearest Mercedes dealership.
Can anyone help?

Hi,

Thanks for the response.

Am located near to Uxbridge. In short, I have to operate the roof in stages, ie, depress the red switch to initiate the roof to retract, then take my finger off for a second before doing the same again in order for the boot lid to rise up .
Rather than one smooth exercise I have to do both up and down operations in 2 stages. Plus the fact it takes longer now to start the process than it did previously.

There is something in the book for altering the pressure. Let me have the first 6 VIN numbers and I will see what I can find on Sat

Wow! would be extremely grateful for any of your advice on this!

Please pardon my ignorance, but what are the 'VIN' numbers?

You can get a switch on e-bay that makes the whole thing a "one touch" operation, was thinking of getting this for my SLK though haven't got round to it yet, anyway, details are ;

"One touch module for Mercedes SLK R170 roof
Item number: 180111965220 "

Product description:

Intelligent module, that the roof of your Mercedes SLK
opens automatically, without the roof switch to constantly operate.

>>> This module is for all SLK type R170 year of construction 1996 to 2004 <<<:D
