I left the SLK to stand for about a year, when I came back and charged the car up, I noticed that the indicators continually flashed until I put the key on the ignition and turned to position 2

Everything work fine when the car was put away, stored in a dry garage.

Opened up the alarm siren under the bonnet and the internal connector had black deposits all over and a corroded circuit board but the battery location looks OK

Also, when the key fob buttons are pressed, the indicators flash to show the alarm activating and disabling, but the central locking does not work and when you open the door after arming, even when disabling on the fob, the indicators flash quickly again until the key is inserted

I bought a used siren of ebay, but that makes no difference and there is no water in the PSU in the boot.

Could it be the alarm control unit, or syncing issue, the roof works fine, and the central locking works from the button on the dashboard, but it does not work from the fob or key in the door

OBD reader shows no faults, but it is a cheap one

Any help would be appreciated

What has happened is the cars main battery had gone flat, this in return had allowed the siren alarm batteries to fail, so the answer is you either disconnect the siren or buy a new one.

Thanks for the quick reply

If I disconnect the siren, the central locking still does not work, and the indicators flash on the fob, but it still sets the lights flashing when opening the door when the alarm is disarmed again

Is there a reset needed or something?

If the car was standing out, then possible water in the PSE pump and the connections do need to be examined for green corrosion on the contacts.

Does the dash switch not use the pump to unlock/lock the doors?

This works currently

Just checked and the pump is operating fine if the button on the centre dashboard is pressed, so I doubt is the pump, where is the alarm control unit that the key fob talks to on a facelift all?

There are many functions incorporated into the PSE pump, alarm, interior lights and locking.

All working, fuse no 9 had blown, I had checked 24 and 25, but reading another mb forum showed this maybe the culprit for the fob not locking the doors

Ps, PSE pump looks like new.

Glad you could assist Coventry!!!
