I saw one today in a Tesco's carpark, what a nice car. I spoke to the owber, nice chap. It was black, told the wife werew getting one. Those 5.5 V8 sound lovely. Nice to compare to an SL63, but never seen one.

I'm intending to swop the 968 cab for an SLK in a year or 2 when we can no longer get in and out of the 968, I made the mistake of telling SWMBO that SLK55 would be my choice - instant veto! Will have to make do with a 300/320/350 instead unless I can pull a fast one before she notices!!

I fall into a 968! Nice cars but, if I had the choice SLK55 everytime. This one was a 2010 and looks so much nicer in the flesh. If you buy one just debadge!!

Must admit an SLK55 has been on my radar for some time but that would mean getting rid of one of the SLs and I don't want to do that.

I'd also go for an SL if I could - got close to one a couple of years ago until I checked the length, it's about a foot too long for my garage (and no, lengthening the garage is not a vialble option unfortunately, already looked at that!!). OK, I could park it on the driveway, but am not keen to have that during summer with the hard top off, let alone in winter! An SLK does fit my garage, so that's probably what I'll go for when our bad backs mean the 968 has to go.

I wouldn't replace an SL an SLK either. Keep 'em.

I used to have one. Terrific little cars. The best thing I did was remove the stock suspension and fit a set of KW variant 3. The stock suspension managed to be both too hard and too bouncy. The KW's were a revelation. My pal had just bought a new f80 BMW M3, and around Snetterton circuit he couldn't keep up! He was googling on his phone for ages, and said that the little merc shouldn't be that quick, as on paper the m3 had it licked. The reality was something different!

A couple of years ago we were at Goodwood, and my pal Jim was driving it, chauffeuring the ladies on some hot laps. A good friend of mine called Helen took the passenger seat for one of these laps, and certainly came away stirred! Two days later she rang me and begged me to sell her the car. She is still enjoying it today, and I do miss it.

They are a lovely car indeed, imo a bit ‘purer’ than the SL if that makes sense? Saw a particularly nice one in the Mercedes museum in Stuttgart earlier in the year...:)
