In case others have missed this new service -as I did till recently-

New service from MB for small bodywork repairs: -
http://www2.mercedes-benz.co.uk/con...e/ownership/Service_and_maintenance.0011.html

This is what they say: -

"How annoying is a small scratch, a scuff, a dent or a ding on your lovely Mercedes-Benz? It’s bad enough when you do it yourself. And it’s even worse if someone else does it. But now, if it happens, you can relax.

Your Mercedes-Benz Official Workshop now offers a quick, easy and inexpensive solution, to repair minor damage without the cost of removing panels or the hassle of having your car out of action for days.

Instead, simply book your car in for an appointment at our Small Area Repair Technique (SMART) workshop. They’ll sort out everything from a chipped windscreen to a torn seat, a cracked bumper to a dented wing – and have your Mercedes-Benz back to you as good as new, in next to no time.

• No need to claim on insurance
• No impact on your no claims bonus
• No effect on your insurance premium

So next time you find an unsightly mark on your Mercedes-Benz, don’t think it’s going to be expensive or inconvenient. Simply book it in for a little TLC at your nearest participating Official Workshop."

Sounds good if its genuine Mercedes Benz body shop, the wording of "Our" smart repairer could be like saying I'm just popping to "our" supermarket, as in the one we use. Not wishing to sound negative but it could just be a mediatory service brokering the work to Chips away (Chips "ever so slightly bodged" away) or some other firm, therefore charging you more for a service you could get cheaper eleswhere. I have involvement with Audi dealer in an un named area, and they offer this exact service, "our very own smart repairer" where as they have nothing of the sort and give the work to a smart repair company, then pay them, and you pay a massive mark up on the work. Dont want to be negative but its very much worth asking the question first.

I share your reservations Gazzaj. And as regards their assertion "So next time you find an unsightly mark on your Mercedes-Benz, don’t think it’s going to be expensive ......." I'm afraid I'm cynical enough to think exactly that!

I'm in the fortunate position of having a 'little man' only a couple of miles away who does a brilliant job and whose standard charge for almost anything short of a full respray is usually 'Let's say 30 quid and I don't take cheques and you don't want a receipt do you?'

And if it's just a car park ding and the paint isn't broken then there is an excellent specialist nearby (who is incidentally a member of this forum) who does a superb job at a very reasonable price. These are precisely the guys whom I suspect my local M-B dealer will subcontract the job to - and I don't think the price will be the same as I paid either!

I'd like to be proved wrong, so if anyone takes M-B up on their offer it would be good to have their feedback

At the moment garages are going down like nine pins and they are doing everything in their power to bring in paying customers. When times were good..for them .. they would have laughed at smart repairs.. there again seat and trim repairs, dent removal, I would be quite happy with but the scratch and paint damage is a bit hit and miss..

Good point. Has anyone used this service yet?
My son-in-law had two small dents in the side of his new A class. Naturally upset. Small dents as if knocked by someone opening a door in a supermatket car park or some such and hitting his car.

He got Dentmaster and they mended both so you really could not tell despite his car being black and kept very shiny. Amazing what can be done with small repairs nowadays.

There are two dent masters, one is Part of Paintmaster Northwest, wheel master north west, and dent master north west. I dont have an affiliation with them (if thats what recommenders eye means ;-)) but as Ive managed a good few high profile car dealerships, I have never come accross better. . . Yet !!
