Pop down to your local Lidl store and get a air conditioner deodoriser (about) £2.
Put it on the rear tunnel and set it off with the A/C on recurlate.

how old is the car? the only permanent solution could be a lot more complex / expensive than this - a two day job stripping the dash out and replacing the evaporator - it is covered by warranty though so I hope you're in luck

Sounds like bacteria in the system.

The air con deodorisor should sort it. You can also get it from Halfords but from memory £10 a can.

The various cheapo solutions may work & I hope they do for you - in my case it didn't - at a similar age & mileage to yours
I hope you are still covered by warranty & if so get down to the dealers pronto & report the fault
it's known to MB and there's a pre-determined protocol to solving it, which basically involves taking the car in - 3 or 4 times from memory - while they try successive solutions which don't involve replacing the system
eventually they give the go ahead, which as I said before, is a 2 day job costing stupid money if it's not under warranty
