So what’s this

I’ve had my 2013 CLS SB 9 months and have only just noticed this, I’ve never seen it illuminated and it isn’t in my handbook.
Does anyone know what it is, the small 5mm tab with a red light just under the wooden trim?

it doesn't look like it came from the factory with it .... maybe an aftermarket alarm or immobiliser. Does it flash or light up at all?

It certainly doesn’t have an aftermarket alarm, hands free or anything to my knowledge and I have never seen it light up but having said that it’s taken me 9 months to even notice it

I guess it must be aftermarket as it is hidden behind cruise control and indicator levers so not easy to see

Definitely aftermarket, looks like an IR Receiver for a remote control? Maybe ambient lighting or some such.

Three weeks ago I had an aftermarket reversing camera fitted and the fitter left me with a small remote control and told me that I wouldn’t need it just keep it in the glove box in case it needs to be reset.
It all now makes sense, thanks again Alex.
