On my R230 only works for about 5 closes then stops working, if I disconnect the battery for anything more than 5 days the soft close works again after reconnecting the battery for about 5 closes then stops working again. It has been like this for more than 4 years.
What should I be looking for or is it a job for the scanner?

(door component)

Your boot catch is leaking, you need to epoxy the little ball bearings in the catch - I had this same problem. It is fairly common.

Smart + others :)
The boot catch is the first port of call, if not split, then pump internal electrics. Resetting it or disconnecting power to it resets it for a while.

Many thanks Star. Looking very likely the internals of the pump. If the battery is disconnected for a week or more it works for a few closes or it will work for many. After reading through the links its pretty much what you say.
