First of all I'm new here so hello to all.
I have just bought a 96 C220 auto for my wife, seems to be in good condition inside and out.I have noticed on pulling away there seems to be a slight rumble from the rear left as if a bush or something is gone and a slight oil leak from centre of the axle. The oil leak does not worry me as it looks as if there is a seal there.Any ideas as regards the other. Thanks in advance.

Didn't you bounce the car up and down to check the suspensions before you hand over the cash?

Suspension seems fine,we have large speed bumps round here and it floats over them with no worrys.I will check exhaust to see if its to near the floor. After you pull away the ride is smooth and silent.I have not had a chance to get under the car to have a good look.I will get that done next week as I have a set of 17" alloys to fit,in doing this with the road noise etc should drown out any other noise.

And hello and welcome to you :D

Do check the propshaft U/j's and center bearing, any good engineer should easily pick up on what the noise is
