Hi guys, me again. My c180 tonight on the way home, check brake/go to garage light came on. I had a MOT last month and it passed without anything needing work. As the light came on I noticed my speedometer went and sat at ZERO and didn't move and also accelaration from stand still went out the window. I am worried that maybe my ECU has gone haywire since I removed it last week to clean in order to clear that eng RPM hunting problem. I need your advice please. EJ

Hi Malcolm, about 2 wks ago in trying to fix my previous problem, I changed the Cam sensor with the wire extension, also took the ECU out and cleaned it and put it back. The Air mess sensor was also pulled, cleaned and put back. Where would you say I should start looking at this speed signal lost? is it safe to drive it as it is to a garage?

I don't recall if you sent me any papers at all. I was suggested to replace the camshaft sensor and the wiring lead that its attached to it since the oil leak had gone to the engine loom, AMS, O2 sesnor and ultimately ECU. I replaced the cam sensor and its wires (found the plug very tight and difficult to click back on) but managed somehow with unease. Cleaned AMS and ECU with the carburator cleaner spray and replaced O2 sensor...Problem seemed rectified and now this.

hey, at least i have you guys to thank for...A car is a machine and machines do break down...the irony of it is that i am looking to replace it ASAP but haven't found anything nearby for my budget of 10K. I am looking for a C230/C240 or C320..By the way, is the C270 CDI (5 Cylinder) any good???

It is beautiful. Smooth, powerful and very economical.
If you chip it, it is also pretty rapid.

The 270 plus 5 speed auto is definitely one of the best Mercedes combinations.....

Well, Andy, good of you to say so...Just paid a deposit on a 04 CLX270 CDI, I simply loved it at first sight. Will have a pic up on here when I pick it up on Friday.

Sam, rest assured if and when any fault comes up, you will know right away. I really appreciate your help and others over the past year with my C180.

Its what the forum is here for Sir!!

You wont have to many probs with a clk of that age, most of the common faults would have been delt with!!
