sound deadening on B Class

Hi all. I was not expecting to be on this forum yet but I have a problem with my new car.It is a diesel B200 and I am finding the engine noise in the cab far higher than I would have expected!
Question; Is this a general gripe and if so ,is there anything to be done. I would appreciate any help 'cos I seem to have spent(I know -caveat emptor etc)a lot of money on a tractor-Hope head office reads this! Many thanks Simon

Might help to know a bit more info - i.e. is it brand new (08 model) or second hand? If so then what year, mileage etc? With a bit more info then maybe someone will be able to help

Hi Mark Yes you're correct of course.First reg in Sept'07.Done 6500.It is an issue that worried me from scratch!Hope you can help Thanks Simon

I did read somewhere that the ones used in Germany as Taxis (they're to some extent replacing E Class's apparently) have extra sound deadening to stop the vehicles disturbing residents when they're picking up and dropping off.

If I recall correctly this extra sound deadening (under the bonnet) can be ordered and fitted by UK dealers.

Rory. Many thanks for that link.I have in the meantime hit upon noisekiller.co.uk mentioned in the link .They have a underbonnet kit and an engine blanket(yes,new one on me too)but they certainly deserve a phone call.Probably better than an expensive Merc afterthought and why not factory fit-the car costs enough anyway!.Enough rant,I will keep you posted.Many thanks Simon
